Collection: Floral Carving Digital Downloads

As a leather worker for over 14 years, I understand the struggle with learning to draw floral carving. I'm mostly self-taught myself, and I've spent many hours drawing, throwing it away, starting again.

I've studied many artists work that I admire, and eventually got the hang of flow and design elements. I have several books on drawing floral carving, have a few dvd's, and have taken a few online courses, as well as a few in-person classes. But what I can tell you is it takes time. It's not something I learned and was good at in an hour, or even a week. It took me quite awhile to 'feel good' about what I was drawing. 

I'd like to help you with learning to draw floral carvings. I have taken some of my past drawings and turned them into .pdf files for you to print, trace and use on your own creations and projects. Most of them will include a red circle. This circle is a reference for the 'backbone' of the drawing - no line should ever cross this circle (there are a few exceptions, which we'll discover in more advanced drawings). This will be your guideline for the base of the drawing. The file will also include the same drawing, without the red circle, incase it's easier to follow the flow without the red line interfering.

These digital files are for you to use, they are not to be redistributed. Please use them on wallets, purses, jewel boxes, anything you desire! I'm hoping they will help you understand the circle, and to learn flow. They more you practice with them, the better your muscle memory will be, and pretty soon you'll be able to draw on your own. Best of all you change the elements (flowers, leaves, stickers, etc) and make these designs unique!

I have plans to upload more advanced drawings, belt drawings, rope can drawings, spur strap drawings, and have some bouquet wrap designs I'd like to share as well.
